R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested Tuesday after a

woman claimed he threatened her with a gun, Los

Angeles police said hours after officers arrived at the

entertainer’s Los Angeles mansion and returned with a

search warrant.

“Mr. Brown is going to be transported where he will be

arrested for ADW — assault with a deadly weapon,”

LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez told reporters at around 5 p.m.

local time (8 p.m. ET). Brown will be formerly booked

sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning,

police said.

The unidentified woman reported the early-morning

incident to police, saying 27-year-old Brown pointed the

gun at her before she left his gated estate in the wealthy

Los Angeles enclave of Tarzana, law enforcement

sources told NBC News.

The LAPD received a call at about 3 a.m. and sent

several patrol cars to the home later Tuesday morning.

People were being removed from the residence and

would be interviewed following a “protective sweep” of

the home, Ramirez said earlier.

“The investigation is still ongoing, the search warrant is

s still being conducted and evidence is still being

collected,” Ramirez said Tuesday afternoon. Ramirez

said he couldn’t comment on whether any weapons were

found at the home because the search was ongoing.
